Xie Haizhou’s academic thought of “mental disorders” in treating child autism

Abstract  Child autism is a neurological developmental disorder that falls under the category of mental disorders. Professor Xie Haizhou holds that mental disorders are caused by deficiency of kidney essence, deficiency of blood and qi, absence of nourishment, obstruction of phlegm and blood stasis, and obscuring the clearance of consciousness, which have important reference value for the treatment of autism in children. Treatment of the brain is the key to the treatment of autism in children, special treatment measures such as invigorating the kidney, nourishing the qi, nourishing the blood, eliminating phlegm, and removing blood stasis can be applied according to the etiology and pathogenesis of autism. For children with sudden self-mutilation, mania, convulsions, syncope, and other emergencies, priority should be given to the application of drugs to alleviate the emergencies, quickly calm the children’s mind and stabilize their mood, first standard, then both the original and the specimen.
