Abstract The medical science has both natural and humanistic attributes. In the new era, the concept of “to focus on health promotion” for medicine development, fully reflects the “people-oriented” idea. Enriching the humanistic connotations and improving the humanistic quality are requirements to advance the professionalism of stomatology students and to train the dentists of a new era, as well as the need to build a harmonious doctor-patient relationship and promote the development of medicine. However, at present there are still some problems such as insufficient attention to the humanistic quality education of stomatology students, and the related curriculum, education methods, and evaluation systems still need to be improved. Combining teaching practice and based on the professional characteristics of stomatology, this paper discusses the reform strategies of stomatology education led by medical humanities from the aspects of education concept, teacher team construction, curriculum setting, teaching mode, training plan, teaching evaluation and educational environment, in order to strengthen the humanistic quality education and comprehensive ability training of stomatology students, and lay the foundation for cultivating stomatology talents who meet the needs of the new era.
