| Clinical effect of akupotomy combined with fine silver needle in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis |

Abstract Objective To observe the clinical effect of akupotomy combined with fine silver needle in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods Forty patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis in the Department of Akupotomy, Jiangsu Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital from January to December 2020 were selected as subjects, they were divided into observation group and control group by random number table method, with 20 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with akupotomy combined with fine silver needle, while the control group was treated with akupotomy only. Once a week, both groups were treated for four weeks. Lequesne, visual analogue scale score, knee circumference, and knee synovial thickness were observed before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the Lequesne index and VAS score of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). After treatment, the knee circumference and synovial thickness of the two groups were decreased than those before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). The clinical efficacy of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion Akupotomy combined with fine silver needle in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis can significantly improve joint swelling and pain, and reduce synovial thickness.
