Abstract Diabetes mellitus can affect the structure and function of cardiovascular and nervous organs by microvascular disorder and peripheral neuropathy caused by hyperglycemia. Diabetes mellitus is also a risk factor for many oral diseases. Recent studies have found that diabetes mellitus can accelerate the aging changes of dental pulp tissue, it may be related to the stimulated oxidative stress response and inflammatory immune response. Drugs with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may relieve aging changes of dental pulp resulting from diabetes mellitus. Therefore, this article aims to review the aging changes of dental pulp tissue caused by diabetes mellitus, related mechanisms and potential treatment methods, in order to provide a theoretical basis for clinical treatment of diabetic mellitus patients with dental pulp disease.
