Abstract Objective To explore the effect of nursing intervention mode based on broken window effect in the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) in patients after traumatic brain injury. Methods A total of 80 patients with craniocerebral trauma who received surgical treatment from April 2018 to April 2021 in the East Campus of the Second People’s Hospital of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) were selected. They were divided into experimental group and reference group by random number table method, with 40 cases in both groups. The reference group was given routine nursing intervention, while the experimental group was given the nursing intervention mode based on the broken window effect. The CRBSI infection rate, nutritional status and levels of related inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups. Results The infection rate of CRBSI in the experimental group was lower than that in the reference group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After nursing, the levels of various nutritional indicators in the two groups were higher than those before nursing, while those of the experimental group were higher than those of the reference group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After nursing, the levels of inflammatory factors in the two groups were lower than those before nursing, while those of the experimental group were lower than those of the reference group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Nursing intervention mode based on broken window effect has important application value in patients after craniocerebral trauma, it can improved the nutritional status of the patients, decreased the CRBIS infection rate and the levels of pro-inflammatory factors.
