Diagnosis of benign and malignant breast lesions by conventional ultrasound, superb microvascular imaging combined with ultrasonic elastography |

Abstract Objective To study the diagnostic efficacy of conventional ultrasound, superb microvascular imaging (SMI) combined with ultrasonic elastography. Methods A total of 301 female patients who underwent breast ultrasound examination and were confirmed by pathology in the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University from August 2019 to June 2021 were selected. The characteristics of conventional ultrasound, elastic score, and SMI blood flow classification of benign and malignant breast lesions were compared, and the diagnostic efficacy of conventional ultrasound, SMI blood flow classification, and elasticity score in benign and malignant breast lesions were analyzed. Results There were 268 benign and 33 malignant lesions in 301 patients. There were statistically significant differences in lesion morphology (aspect ratio), margin, internal echo, calcification, color Doppler flow imaging, elastic score, and SMI blood flow classification between benign and malignant lesions (P < 0.05). Lesion morphology (aspect ratio), margin, elastic score, and SMI blood flow classification were independent influencing factors for the identification of breast malignant lesions (OR > 1, P < 0.05). The specificity, positive predictive value, and accuracy of combined detection of benign and malignant breast lesions were the highest. Conclusion Conventional ultrasound, SMI blood flow classification combined with elastic score may be a more reliable method for the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast lesions.
