Abstract Objective To explore the professional nursing guidance method in the rehabilitation process of common peroneal nerve injury and its positive effect on nerve injury repair. Methods A total of 80 patients with incomplete common peroneal nerve injury who visited the Department of Neurology and Orthopedics of Hebei Chest Hospital and the Department of Neurology of the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University from July 2018 to July 2021 were collected. According to the simple random sampling method, they were divided into control group and professional nursing group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing, including keeping the affected limb warm, instructed to walk independently, and brace protection; the professional nursing group received professional nursing guidance in addition to routine nursing, including knowledge about common peroneal nerve injury, video-guided functional exercise, nerve electrical stimulation therapy, and warm water foot bath. After three months, the degree of recovery of injured nerve function was evaluated by electromyography, and the differences of related indicators between the two groups were compared. Results After rehabilitation treatment, there were no significant differences in the percentage of spontaneous potential reduction and the percentage of increase in damaged nerve conduction velocity between the two groups (P > 0.05). The increased percentage of motor unit potential recruitment frequency and the increased percentage of injured nerve compound muscle action potential amplitude in the professional nursing group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The professional nursing instruction can help patients create favorable external conditions conducive to neurofunctional restoration in the process of peroneal nerve rehabilitation, so as to promote neurological function recovery faster and better.
