Effect of oral nutritional supplements combined with resistance exercise on nutritional statu of patients with head and neck tumor radiotherapy |

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of oral nutrition supplements combined with resistance exercise nutritional statu of patients with head and neck tumor radiotherapy. Methods A total of 80 patients with head and neck tumor radiotherapy treated in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital from January 2020 to March 2021 were selected, and divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given oral nutrition supplements from the begining of radiotherapy, and the observation group was given oral nutritional supplements combined with resistance exercise from the begining of radiotherapy. Nutritional statu assessment and hematological indexes of two groups were compared after radiotherapy. Results After radiotherapy, the incidence rate of nutritional risk in observation group was lower than that in control group (P < 0.05). After radiotherapy, the degree of malnutrition in observation group was lighter than that in control group (P < 0.05). After radiotherapy, the levels of hemoglobin and lymphocytes in observation group were higher than those in control group (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the levels of total protein, albumin, and prealbumin between two groups after radiotherapy (P > 0.05). Conclusion Oral nutrition supplements combined with resistance exercise can reduce nutritional risk, reduce the degree of malnutrition, lower the decline index of hemoglobin and lymphocytes, so as to improve the nutritional statu of patients.
