Abstract Independent learning ability is a necessary quality for innovative talents, and the cultivation of this ability should run through the whole process of education. In the process of internship for pharmacy students, traditional methods are still adopted at present, and no attention is paid to the improvement of independent learning ability. Exploring and improving students’ independent learning ability is an important topic facing pharmacy education at present. This study observes the learning behavior of students in the process of internship, analyzes the relationship between internship characteristics and independent learning, summarizes teaching experience, and then puts forward guidance strategies for independent learning, and carries out practical verification. After the whole process of independent learning and training, students have effectively changed their passive learning state, promoted the improvement of independent learning ability, and laid the foundation for future ability improvement.
