Abstract Asthma is a common chronic respiratory disease with an increasing incidence year by year. Its clinical characteristics, immunology, and molecular etiology often vary from person to person. In recent years, with the rise of microbial metabolomics analysis, it has been found that microbial communities of lung and intestinal play an important role in the development, regulation, and maintenance of healthy immune response, thus giving birth to the concept of “entero-pulmonary axis”. Microbial communities of lung and intestinal affects the development, clinical features, and treatment response of asthma. The effects and mechanisms of different microbial communities on bronchial asthma are still unclear. In this paper, we review the relationship between microbial communities of lung and intestinal and their effects on asthma, providing new ideas for the diagnosis and personalized treatment of asthma.
