Abstract Objective To conclude and summarizc the medication rules of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions in the treatment of limb lymphedema Based on TCMISS V2.5 system software. Methods The literatures of clinical studies on CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and Chinese biomedical literature databases from January 1989 to December 2019 were searched for the oral prescription for the treatment of limb lymphedema, the retrieved prescriptions were screened and arranged, the TCMISS V2.5 system software was applied for data mining to explore the medication rule. Results A total of 160 prescriptions and 198 kinds of drugs were included, for 2233 times. There were 36 drugs with frequency ≥10%, including Astragali Radix, Poria, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, etc. The four nature of drugs were mainly warm and flat; the five flavours were mainly sweet and bitter; the main channel tropism were liver and spleen channels. The degree of confidence was set to 0.7, and rule analysis was selected to obtain 24 rules. The network visualization relationship between three drug combinations was obtained. A total of 26 drug core combinations were obtained, corresponding to 13 new formula combinations. Conclusion By using the TCMISS system, it is concluded that three new formula combinations of common syndromes, namely, qi deficiency and damp obstruction, dampness-heat amassment, and phlegm and blood stasis intermingled syndromes, are suitable for limb lymphedema, it is consistent with the prescription composition rules of staging treatment of limb lymphedema in clinical practice, that is, the formula law of benefiting qi and warming yang for diuresis in the early stage, clearing heat, removing toxicity, and promoting diuresis in the progressive stage, and promoting blood circulation and dispersing swelling in the late stage.
