Diagnosis of two cases of critical chlamydia psittaci pneumonia by metagenomic next-generation sequencing |

Abstract Chlamydia psittaci pneumonia is a long-neglected pulmonary infection caused by chlamydia psittaci infection. This paper reports two cases of critical chlamydia psittaci pneumonia diagnosed by metagenomic next-generation sequencing in Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The clinical manifestations of this disease are lack of specificity, and the misdiagnosis rate is high, in serious cases, it may cause systemic multiple organ failure and other critical manifestations. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing technology is highly sensitive and can detect pathogens that cannot be detected by other traditional methods, which brings significant changes to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of respiratory tract infection, effectively shortening the course of disease and improving the prognosis of patients to the greatest extent.
