Abstract Objective The literature of nursing workload measurement by working hour measurement method was systematically sorted out, and the research status, influencing factors and development trend of nursing workload measurement by working hour measurement method were discussed, so as to provide reference for nursing workload measurement by working hour measurement method in China. Methods PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, CBM and other databases were selected, and the retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to April 2020. Research literature on the measurement of nursing workload by working hour measurement method were selected, and summarized the distribution of research hospitals summarized, research objects and measurement methods, and the average time required for single nursing operation items in the included literature were summarized. Results A total of 12 Chinese and English literatures were included, most of which were from China. The literatures were published from January 2005 to April 2020, and the research objects were mainly Grade 3, Class A hospital. Working hour measurement method includes observation method and self-recording method. This study included 53 items, focusing on direct nursing and indirect nursing. Conclusion Working hour measurement method has a good guidance and reference function for hospitals to measure nursing workload and nursing personnel allocation. The research objects are mainly Grade 3, Class A hospital, and the content and quantity of research projects have not been unified, and there are many influencing factors.
