| The value of serum total IgE and allergen-specific IgE detection in the clinical diagnosis of asthma in children under five years old |

Abstract Objective To explore the value of serum total IgE and allergen-specific IgE in the clinical diagnosis of asthma in children under five years old. Methods Thirty asthmatic children under five years old who were hospitalized in Fuyang People’s Hospital of Anhui Province (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) from September 2019 to February 2020 were selected as the asthma group, and 30 non-asthmatic children under five years old with cough and/or wheezing symptoms during the same period in our hospital were selected as the non-asthma group. The positive rates of serum total IgE and allergen-specific IgE antibodies were compared between the two groups, and their diagnostic value in asthma in children under five years old was analyzed. Results The positive rate of serum total IgE and allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the asthmatic group was higher than that in the non-asthmatic group (P < 0.05). The area under the curve of total serum IgE and allergen-specific IgE were 0.800 and 0.817 respectively. Conclusion The detection of serum total IgE and allergen-specific IgE has a higher response value in the clinical diagnosis of asthma in children under five years old.
