Abstract In recent years many evidence have shown that gut microbiota, as a new target involved in homeostasis regulation, it can increase the risk of stroke by affecting blood pressure, blood lipid, blood glucose, and participating in immune inflammatory response. There was also a specific association between gut microbiota and stroke-related nosocomial infections. Stroke, as a common cerebrovascular disease, gut microbiota and bacterial metabolites play an important role in its pathophysiological process, which is of great significance in improving prognosis. This paper reviews the related studies on gut microbiota and stroke, in order to provide a more comprehensive perspective and ideas for the prevention, treatment, and further exploration of stroke.
