Relationship between serum creatinine level and clinical indicators in middle-aged patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus |

Abstract Objective To explore the relationship between serum creatinine level and clinical indicators in middle-aged patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and provide evidence for better prevention of such complications in clinic. Methods Clinical data of 183 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with complete data records and ≥45 years old, admitted to the Department of Endocrinology, Beijing Aerospace General Hospital from January to December 2017. All the cases were divided into two groups according to the level of serum creatinine. Group A was normal serum creatinine group (n = 126), the serum creatinine was ≤104 μmol/L, and group B was serum creatinine elevated group (n = 57), serum creatinine was >104 μmol/L. Age, body mass index (BMI), diabetes course, fasting blood glucose (FPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), serum uric acid (UA), urine microalbumin (UMA) of the two groups were collected and analyzed. Results Single factor analysis showed that, age, course of diabetes, FPG, HbA1c, TG, TC, UA, UMA had statistically significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that, the course of diabetes mellitus, HbA1c, TC, UA, UMA were independent risk factors for the increase of serum creatinine (P < 0.05). Conclusion The patient′s diabetes course, HbA1c, TC, UA and UMA are the risk factors for increase of serum creatinine among the middle-aged patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
