Abstract The pathogenesis of alopecia is mainly the dysfunction of five zang viscera, such as unsmoothness of lung qi, stagnation of liver qi and deficiency of spleen and kidney, along with pathological factors such as phlegm, dampness, blood stasis and turbidity that affect the flow of qi and blood, leading to hair loss. Professor Li Huilin has been working for more than 30 years. He is good at using traditional prescriptions in treating alopecia, such as Xiaochaihu Decoction, Maziren Pills, Mahuang Xingren Gancao Shigao Decoction, Danggui Sini Decoction, Jingui Shenqi Pills and other traditional prescriptions, which attains favorable clinical effects. The treatment provides novel ideas for treating alopecia. This paper introduces the clinical experience of Professor Li Huilin, a famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor in Guangdong Province, in treating hair loss, and presents two cases.
