Clinical effect of blade needle on knee osteoarthritis#br# |

Abstract Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of blade on knee ostsoarthritis (KOA). Methods A total of 80 KOA patients admitted to the Department of Outpatient, Liuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital (Liuzhou Zhuang Medical Hospital) Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from August 2017 to February 2020 were selected and divided into blade needle group and acupuncture group according to the random number table method, with 40 patients in each group. The blade needle group was given blade needle release treatment, and the acupuncture group was given ordinary acupuncture treatment, the course of treatment was four weeks. The knee joint of the two groups after treatment was scored by comprehensive clinical efficacy evaluation of knee joint. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and hospital for special surgery knee score (HSS) were used to evaluate the pain of patients before treatment and two and four weeks after treatment. Results There were statistically significant differences in time, intergroup and interaction of VAS, HSS score between the two groups (P < 0.05). Comparison in the group: compared with before treatment, VAS score was decreased and HSS score was increased in both group after two and four weeks of treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Comparison between groups: after four weeks of treatment, VAS score of blade needle group was significantly lower than that of acupuncture group, and HSS score was significantly higher than that of acupuncture group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of blade needle group was significantly higher than that of acupuncture group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Blade needle can obviously relieve knee joint pain and improve joint activity function, and the effect is better than acupuncture.
