Abstract Senile insomnia can be attributed to the category of “insomnia” in traditional Chinese medicine, which is one of the elderly common diseases in clinical practice. At present, Western medicine is mainly treated with hypnotic sedative drugs, which have large side effects. Through years of clinical observation and practice, Professor Huang Shijing believes that the key pathogenesis of senile insomnia is “spinal cord reduced cerebral council due to kidney deficiency”. And around this pathogenesis, he puts forward the basic treatment of “tonifying the kidney to reinforce original qi, nourishing brain essence to tranquilize spirit”. In clinical treatment, it should be used throughout the treatment process, and supplemented by two medical cases to provide some ideas and methods for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
