Teaching mode of improving clinical thinking ability at surgery clinical practice stage for medical students#br# |

Abstract Objective To explore the effectiveness of Web-based case-based learning problem based learning (CBL-PBL) teaching model in clinical practice teaching activities of hepatobiliary surgery. Methods From September 2020 to April 2021, 50 fifth grade medical students from the Department of Clinical Medicine, the First Clinical Medical College of Capital Medical University were divided into study group and control group by random number table method, with 25 students in each group. The study group adopted the network assisted CBL-PBL teaching mode, including network organization and management, CBL-based teaching plan design, PBL-centered teaching implementation and network after-school management. The control group used the traditional teaching mode. The students’ interest and satisfaction in clinical thinking ability were compared between the two groups. The clinical thinking teaching effect was evaluated by the general scale of clinical thinking ability teaching assessment. Results The students’ satisfaction of teaching clinical thinking ability in study group was higher than that in control group (P < 0.05). The total scores and critical thinking, systematic thinking, evidence-based thinking, and clinical thinking in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion The application of Web-based CBL-PBL teaching mode in clinical medical students’ practice of hepatobiliary surgery can improve students’ satisfaction and learning interest, and obviously improve the teaching effect of clinical thinking ability, which is worthy of further study, improvement and promotion.
