The application and effect evaluation of lean management in Good Pain Management Ward |

Abstract Objective To explore the application of lean management in the Good Pain Management Ward and the effect evaluation. Methods A total of 138 patients with cancer pain treated in Renmin Hospital of WuHan University from January to December 2017 were selected as subjects. According to different management method, patients were divided into control group (68 cases) and observation group (70 cases). The control group implemented general management, including health education and following doctor′s orders with analgesic drugs. The observation group applied lean management in the standardized treatment unit for cancer pain, and the effects of pain management were compared between the two groups. Results After lean management method was used in the observation group to create the demonstration ward for the standardized treatment of cancer pain, the drug regulation of doctor, the compliance of patients for prescription, pain remission rate and patients′ satisfaction were significantly increased compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of lean management in the Good Pain Management Ward can increase the compliance of cancer pain patients and improve their quality of their life and satisfaction.
