Analysis of the characteristics of seventy-six Children with Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infection#br# |

Abstract Objective To investigate the characteristics of Klelbsiela pneumoniae bloodstream infection (KPBSI) of children in Xuzhou area, in order to provide basis for clinical drug therapy. Methods Clinical and laboratory infectivity indexes, and drug sensitivity tests of children with KPBSI from January 2015 to July 2021 in Xuzhou Children’s Hospital of Jiangsu Province were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 19 cases of sepsis and 17 cases of pneumonia in 76 children with KPBSI, and 50 cases with fever, 15 cases with cough. The percentages of peripheral blood white blood cell (WBC), C-reactive protein, and procalcitonin increased, 63.2%, 95.1%, and 87.0% respectively. 16 strains (21.1%) of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) were detected, and 60 strains (78.9%) of CRKP were detected. CRKP has a high drug resistance rate to all cephalosporin, amtronam and β-lactamase inhibitor compounds. Most of the children with CRKP were neonates, abnormal laboratory indicators and obvious clinical symptoms. Conclusion CRKP children have high drug resistance rate to commonly used drugs, and its clinical characteristics are obvious.
