Abstract Objective To investigate the influencing factors of ineffective treatment of hyperbaric oxygen in patients with persistent vegetative state (PVS) after craniocerebral injury. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 55 patients with PVS after craniocerebral injury who had ineffective treatment of hyperbaric oxygen in West China Hospital, Sichuan University (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) from March 2019 to March 2021 were ineffective group; 55 patients with PVS after craniocerebral injury who had effective treatment of hyperbaric oxygen in our hospital during the same period were collected as effective group, the clinical data of all patients were consulted, baseline data of two groups were counted and compared, the influencing factors of ineffective treatment of hyperbaric oxygen in patients with PVS after craniocerebral injury were analyzed. Results The proportion of age≥60 years old, severe craniocerebral injury, hyperbaric oxygen intervention time ≥30 d, intracranial hematoma in ineffective group were higher than those in effective group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Age ≥60 years old, severe craniocerebral injury, hyperbaric oxygen intervention time ≥30 d, intracranial hematoma were risk factors of ineffective treatment of hyperbaric oxygen in patients with PVS after craniocerebral injury (OR > 1, P < 0.05). Conclusion The ineffective treatment of hyperbaric oxygen in patients with PVS after craniocerebral injury may be affected by advanced age, severe craniocerebral injury, hyperbaric oxygen intervention time, intracranial hematoma, and other factors.
