Effect of flax lignans on the blood glucose and blood lipid in diabetic patients#br# |

Abstract Objective To study the effect of flax lignans on blood glucose and blood lipids in diabetic patients. Methods In this study, 118 patients with diabetes admitted in the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University were selected from March 2016 to February 2017 and they were divided into control group (55 cases) and intervention group (56 cases) by random number table method. The control group was given placebo starch 300 mg per time, twice a day, and the intervention group was given oral administration secoisolarici-resinol diglucoside 300 mg and starch 300 mg per time, twice a day. The diet changes of the two groups of patients before and after the intervention were investigated. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2 h postprandial plasma glucose (2hPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), triglyceride (TG), total cholestero (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and C-reactive protein (CRP) level were detected before and after the intervention. Results There were no significant differences in weight, dietary energy intake and energy supply ratio of three nutrients between the two groups before and after intervention (P > 0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in FBG, 2hPG and HbA1c between the two groups (P > 0.05). After intervention, FBG, 2hPG and HbA1c in the intervention group were lower than before intervention, and the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the levels of TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, and CRP between the two groups (P > 0.05). After intervention, TC, LDL-C was lower than before intervention, TC level in the control group was higher than before intervention, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05), and TC and LDL-C in the intervention group were lower than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion flax lignans has a significant effect on improving blood glucose and blood lipids in diabetic patients.
