| Application of narrative therapy based on nostalgia theme in psychological intervention of patients with advanced cancer#br# |

Abstract Objective To explore the application of narrative therapy based on nostalgia theme in psychological intervention of patients with advanced cancer. Methods A total of 140 patients with advanced cancer admitted to Huaian First Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from May 2018 to August 2019 were selected. According to the random number table method, they were divided into 70 cases in the intervention group and 70 cases in the control group. The control group was given regular health education and psychological intervention, and the intervention group was combined with narrative therapy based on the theme of nostalgia. After eight weeks of intervention, the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), self-rating depression scale (SDS), state self-esteem scale (SSES), and the Chinese version of Herth hope scale (HHI) were used to assess mental state, and levels of self-esteem and hope. Results After eight weeks of intervention, two cases fell off in the intervention group and six cases fell off in the control group, and the SAS and SDS scores of the two groups were lower than those before the intervention, and the SAS and SDS scores of the intervention group were lower than those of the control group (P ＜ 0.05); the SSES scores of the two groups were higher than those before the intervention; the total scores of appearance self-esteem, behavioral self-esteem, and SSES of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group (P ＜ 0.05); the HHI scores of the two groups were higher than those before the intervention, and the HHI scores of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion Narrative therapy based on nostalgia theme can help relieve the negative emotions of patients with advanced cancer, awaken their sense of self-esteem, and improve the level of life hope.
