The influence of social practice in pension institutions on nursing professional abilities for vocational nursing students in higher vocational college |

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of social practice in pension institutions on nursing professional abilities to vocational nursing students in higher vocational college. Methods One hundred and twenty seven nursing students of Grade 2014 from Shanghai urban construction vocational college were enrolled as researh objects and randomly divided into control group (65 cases) and observation group (62 cases) by digital draw. The control group was given routine teaching and the observation group added social practice in pension institution on the bases of control group. The comprehensive ability (knowledge acquisition, ability improvement, learning interest and willingness to participate in practical activities), self-regulated learning ability (self-management, information ability, cooperative learning), health assessment ability of the aged (inquiry ability, thinking ability, nursing assessment records) of nursing students in two groups were compared. Results The scores of comprehensive ability and self-regulated learning ability in the observation group were higher than those of control group (all P < 0.05); the score of health assessment ability in the observation group was significantly higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Social practice in pension institution can improve the nursing professional ability of students in higher vocational college.
