Abstract Clinical nursing teachers play a leading role in the process of practice teaching, teacher’s teaching ability directly affects the teaching behavior and teaching effect. This study summarizes the significance of clinical teachers’ teaching ability for teaching and nursing, and it reviewes the strategies to improve teaching ability. Firstly, it is showed that the selection of clinical nursing teachers should be paid attention, the selection standards should be improved, and multi-dimensional and whole-process evaluation should be carried out. Secondly, through improving the system for teaching and training, personalized management gives play to the advantages of different teachers. In addition, implementing teaching incentive mechanism and professional quality education, cultivating the dual identity of nursing, and teaching majors can provide guarantee to improve the teaching quality of clinical nursing.
