Effect of individualized extended health management on postoperative rehabilitation of elderly patients with degenerative knee arthritis#br# |

Abstract Objective To investigate the application effect of individualized extended health management on elderly patients with degenerative knee arthritis (DKA) after discharge from hospital. Methods A total of 108 cases of elderly patients with DKA admitted to Nantong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to December 2020 were enrolled and divided into corventional group (54 cases, implemented routine health management measures after discharge) and study group (54 cases, implemented individualized extended health management measures after discharge) by random number table method, self-management behavior score, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC) osteoarthritis index scale and quality of life were compared after three months of management. Results Three months after discharge, the self-management behavior score of the study group was higher than that at discharge, and the study group was higher than that of the conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The WOMAC scores in both groups were lower than those at discharge, and the study group was lower than the conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Quality of life score and total score of both groups were higher than those at discharge, and study group was higher than conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Individualized extended health management can improve the self-management behavior habits of elderly DKA patients, improve the degree of knee pain, stiffness, and dysfunction, and enhance the quality of life after discharging.
