Effect of IMB mode nursing intervention on quality of life of patients with indwelling PICC#br#

Abstract  Objective To analyze the effect of nursing intervention of information-motiveation-behavioral skills model (IMB) on quality of life of patients with peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC). Methods A total of 120 tumor patients treated in Huaian First People’s Hospital of Jiangsu Province from February 2020 to February 2021 were selected, they were divided into control group and experimental group by random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. Negative psychological status, quality of life, adherence to catheter maintenance and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, anxiety and depression scores of the two groups were lower than before those treatment, and the experimental group was lower than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the scores of physical function, social function, psychological function, and material life of the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and the experimental group was higher than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the adherence rate of catheter maintenance in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05); the incidence of total complications in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of IMB mode nursing intervention in patients with PICC catheterization can improve patients’ compliance with catheterization and self-care ability, relieve adverse emotions, reduce the occurrence of complications during catheterization, and improve the quality of life.
