Abstract Objective To investigate the expression of MMRN2 in breast cancer and its influence on prognosis, discuss the mechanism of MMRN2 in breast cancer. Methods Western blot and qRT-PCR were used to detect the expression of MMRN2 in 50 pairs of human breast invasive ductal carcinoma specimens and adjacent tissues, which had excision by surgery in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from January 2013 to April 2017. The relationship between the expression of MMRN2 and the pathologic features and prognosis of patients were analyzed. Results The expression of MMRN2 in breast cancer was down-regulated (P < 0.01), and the expression of MMRN2 was not correlated with the pathological characteristics of patients (P > 0.05). Up-regulated MMRN2 could prolong the overall survival (P = 0.036) and no recurrence survival time (P = 0.019) of patients with breast cancer. Conclusion MMRN2 is a tumor suppressor gene for breast cancer, and can serve as a potential target for molecular treatment of breast cancer, improve patients′ survival.
