| Clinical therapeutic efficacy of massage acupoint pressing plus bloodletting in the treatment of postpartum acute mastitis |

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical therapeutic effects of massage acupoint pressing plus bloodletting in the treatment of postpartum acute mastitis. Methods Total 200 cases of patients with postpartum acute mastitis treated in Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital Affiliated to Southern Medical University from January 2016 to January 2017 were randomized into treatment group and control group by random number table method, with 100 cases in each group. In the control group, massage acupoint pressing was applied; in the treatment group, massage acupoint pressing plus bloodletting was used, with the therapeutic sessions as two weeks. The mass sizes, symptom scores and the clinical therapeutic effects between the two groups were compared. Results The cured rate was 86.00% in the treatment group, and 67.00% in the control group, with highly significant differences between the two groups (P ＜ 0.01). The total effective rate was 93.00% in the treatment group, and 90.00% in the control group, with no significant difference between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05). After treatment, the mass sizes and the symptom scores in both groups were obviously decreased compared with those before treatment, with significant differences (P ＜ 0.01). After treatment, the mass sizes and the symptom scores in the treatment group were apparently lower than those in the control group, with significant differences (P ＜ 0.05, P ＜ 0.01). Conclusion Massage acupoint pressing plus bloodletting has definite effects in the treatment of postpartum acute mastitis, which can obviously improve the clinical symptom scores and the breast mass sizes, enhance the quality of life, with better effects than the simple massage acu-point pressing therapy.
