Abstract Objective To further increase clinical skills for medical students interns by investing and analyzing their training of clinical skills in the medicine department. Methods Sixty medical student interns of 2013 clinical medicine department, who have finished their clinical practice in the medicine department in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from September 2017 to January 2018, were recruited for questionair survey and evaluated for teaching effect of common-used clinical skills in the medicine. Results Student interns were basically satisfied with clinical practice in the medicine department. In opinions of near half of student interns, poor training effect was attributed to lack of practices. In all clinical skills selected by the survey, lumbar puncture was regarded as the most difficult practice with the least chances of practice, and finger blood glucose testing was selected as the easiest one, which, however, was thought to be less of practice chance by more than half of student interns. Conclusion To continue to improve student interns′ level of clinical skills, teaching innovation should be promoted continuously with more chances of clinical practices given to student interns.
