| Values of procalcitonin and serum amyloid A and C reactive protein in acute infection of Brucella |

Abstract Objective To investigate procalcitonin (PCT), serum amyloid A (SAA) and C reactive protein (CRP) in the diagnosis of acute infection of Brucella. Methods From January 2014 to January 2016, in Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University, 100 patients with acute brucellosis infection were selected, according to whether patients developed liver function injury (ALI) or not, all patients were divided into an ALI group (n = 39) and a non ALI group (n = 61). The values of PCT, SAA and CRP in diagnosing ALI in patients with acute infection of Brucella were studied. Results Compared with the non ALI group, levels of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, PCT, SAA and CRP in ALI group were higher, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01). The area under the curve of PCT, SAA and CRP in the diagnosis of ALI in patients with acute Brucella infection were 0.879, 0.858 and 0.737 (P < 0.05). Conclusion PCT and SAA have good diagnostic values in the diagnosis of ALI in patients with acute brucellosis infection.
