Abstract Dengue virus is transmitted by Aedes mosquito and causes dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Early studies have found that dengue virus infection causes cytokines to be oversecreted, leading to cytokine storms. Different cytokines play different roles in dengue virus infection, aggravate or inhibit the progression of disease, and affect the outcome of the disease. As an important pro-inflammatory cytokine, interleukin-17 (IL-17), secreted by Th17 cells, can induce the aggregation and proliferation of neutrophils, thus effectively mediating the inflammatory response of tissues, which is related to the pathogenesis of various viral infections. The immune mechanism of dengue virus infection and cytokine storm IL-17 and the relationship between IL-17 and dengue virus infection were reviewed.
