Abstract Birth defects samples are collected from primary maternal and child health care and family planning service sites, the relevant information of service objects collected and the samples detected. Designing biobank management software, encoding storage space, using the management software to manage large sample of standardized processing, store in planned space. This article discusses the work experience of birth-defect biobank establishment based on the basic level, in order to provide service for grass-roots and accumulate sample resources for research. Jiangsu Family Planning Science and Technology Research Institute has ten thousands of blood samples and DNA extractions of screening for Down symdrome, deafness, noninvasive prenatal screening, congenital heart disease, preliminarily establishes a standardized birth-defect biobank, put biobank management software into birth-defect prevention and research, which lay the foundation for the continued study.
