Effect of liquid based cytology test in the diagnosis of primary lung cancer |

Abstract Objective To explore the diagnostic effect of liquid-based cytology under fiberoptic bronchoscopy on patients with primary lung cancer. Methods The clinical data of 1461 patients admitted to Shaoxing Central Hospital from January 2013 to June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. The diagnostic effect of liquid-based cytology under fiberoptic bronchoscopy of patients with primary lung cancer was analyzed. Results A total of 1461 patients were treated with fiberoptic bronchoscopy to brush the sample fluid base, of which 1254 patients had clinical follow-up or histopathological results, included 1055 patients with primary lung cancer and 199 patients with benign lesions. Among 1055 patients with primary lung cancer, 604 cases (57.25%) were diagnosed with primary lung cancer by forceps biopsy tissue pathological, 538 cases (50.99%) were diagnosed with primary lung cancer by liquid based cytology, 213 cases (20.18%) were diagnosed with primary lung cancer only by the liquid based cytology. The accuracy of liquid-based cytology in the classification of small cell carcinoma and non-small cell carcinoma was 99.00% (Kappa=0.969, P = 0.001). The classification accuracy of liquid based cytology of squamous carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma were 95.90%, 95.90% and 100.00% respectively, the classification accuracy of forceps biopsy histology of squamous carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and small cell carcinoma were 96.96%,97.97% and 98.98% respectively. There was no statistically significant difference among the above groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion The detection rate of primary lung cancer is high, and the classification accuracy is high.
