Application of Multi-parameter MRI in the diagnosis of prostate cancer |

Abstract Objective To investigate the application value of multi-parameter magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Methods The clinical data of 75 patients with suspected prostate cancer admitted to the Shanghai Tenth People′s Hospital of Tongji University from August 2016 to August 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Multi-parameter [diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) and dynamic contrast enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI)] MRI examinations were performed. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), CC/C of 1H-MRS, DCE-MRI volume transfer constant (Ktrans), rate constant (Kep), extravascular extracellular volume fraction (Ve) and initial area under the curve (iAUC) were compared between patients with prostate cancer and patients with benign prostate lesions. The value of multi-parameter MRI in the diagnosis of prostate cancer was evaluated, referring to the results of postoperative pathological examination. Results The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of multi-parameter MRI in the diagnosis of prostate cancer were 88.46%, 82.61% and 86.67%, respectively. The ADC value of patients with prostate cancer was significantly lower than that of those with benign prostate lesions, while CC/C, Ktrans, Kep, Ve and iAUC were significantly larger than those of patients with benign prostate lesions, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01). The AUC, sensitivity and specificity of multi-parameter MRI for benign and malignant prostate lesions were higher than those of single-parameter MRI. Conclusion Multi-parameter MRI is of certain value in the differential diagnosis of prostate cancer. It can be used as an effective and accurate method for the diagnosis of benign and malignant prostate lesions.
