Application effect of flipped classroom teaching method combined with PACS system on the master degree candidates′ neurosurgical internship training |

Abstract Objective To discuss the application effect of flipped classroom teaching method combined with PACS system on the master degree candidates′ neurosurgical internship training. Methods A total of 119 clinical master degree candidates in the First Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University of traditional Chinese Medicine who were trained in neurosurgery from September 2015 to September 2017 were selected. They were divided into observation group (58 cases) and control group (61 cases) by random numbers table method. The observation group adopted the flipped classroom teaching method combined with PACS system (image storage and transmission system), while the control group adopted the traditional teaching method mainly based on interpretation of teachers. At the end of internship the teaching effect was evaluated by examination scores and questionnaires. Results The examination scores of observation group were significantly higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). Learning interest, internship participation degree, and the abilities including autonomous learning, information acquisition, clinical thinking and clinical practicing in observation group were also significantly improved, compared with control group (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in the learning efficiency improved (P > 0.05). Conclusion The teaching model of flipping classroom based on PACS system can fully motivate master degree candidates to study independently and improve the clinical practice teaching effect on neurosurgery.
