Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of prenatal education combine nutrition intervention on maternal and infant weight and immune function in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods From March 2013 to March 2017, 96 cases of gestational diabetes patients diagnosed in the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University were randomly divided into control group (46 cases) and observation group (50 cases). The control group was given routine examination and routine health education. The observation group was given comprehensive prenatal education combine nutrition intervention besides routine examinations and health education. Maternal weight gain, immune function and neonatal weight were compared between the two groups. Results Maternal weight gain in observation group was (13.7±2.4) kg, significantly lower than that in control group [(17.1±2.7) kg], and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Neonatal weight in observation group was (3.21±0.71) kg, which was obviously lower than that in control group [(3.85±0.83) kg], and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). At the end of pregnancy, levels of CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group, while CD8+ was significantly lower than control group, and the differences were all statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Prenatal education combined nutritional intervention have significant effect on maternal weight gain and neonatal weight, and it could effectively improve the immune function in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus.
