The relationship between human-induced protein 16 and preeclampsia |

Abstract Objective To explore the relationship between human interferon-inducible protein 16 (IFI16) and the onset of preeclampsia (PE). Methods From June 2015 to March 2017, 125 patients with PE in Panyu District He Xian Memorial Hospital of Guangzhou ("our hospital" for short) were selected as the research group. In addition, 53 cases of healthy pregnant women in our hospital during the same period were treated as control group. The levels of IFI16 in serum and IFI16 protein expression in the placenta of pregnant women were detected by enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay and Western blotting respectively. The correlation between the level of IFI16 in serum and the expression of IFI16 in the placenta of pregnant women with PE was analyzed by Pearson. Results The levels of IFI16 in serum and the expression of IFI16 in the placenta of research group were significantly higher than those in the control group (t=17.580, 16.135, all P < 0.01). Compared with patients of mild PE, the level of IFI16 in serum and the expression of IFI16 in the placenta of patients with severe PE significantly increased (t=18.883, 14.845, all P < 0.01). There were no statistically significant differences of the level of IFI16 in serum and the expression of IFI16 in the placenta between early onset and late onset (t=0.360, 0.840, all P > 0.05). The expression levels of IFI16 in the serum of PE patients were positively correlated with the expression level of IFI16 in the placenta (r=0.725, P < 0.05). Conclusion The level of IFI16 in serum and the expression of IFI16 in the placenta of patients with PE are abnormally elevated, they are closely related to the disease development, which can be used as a clinical diagnosis of indicator and provide a new target for the treatment of PE.
