Abstract Objective To analyze the research hotspot, development status, and trend of traditional Chinese medicine prevention and treatment of migraine. Methods Literatures on prevention and treatment of migraine with traditional Chinese medicine published in Chinese core journals of science and technology of China National Knowledge Infrastructure from January 2002 to December 2021 were retrieved, and authors, institutions, co-occurrence of keywords and salient words were analyzed using CiteSpace. Results A total of 794 literatures were included. A research team with Liang Fanrong-Zhao Ling as the core has been formed, but there was very little cooperation between the research team and institutions. The research institutions were mainly the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its affiliated hospitals. The research hotspot with the longest span of time in this field and which continued to be hot was acupuncture and moxibustion. The research focus in this field mainly focused on mechanism research and clinical research. Conclusion The research on the prevention and treatment of migraine by traditional Chinese medicine has a good development trend, and the research hotspots mainly focus on the mechanism research and clinical research. The atlas intuitively introduces the general situation of traditional Chinese medicine research on the prevention and treatment of migraine, in order to provide reference for the research in this field.
