Abstract Chronic migraine is a disabling neurological disease that causes severe living burden on patients. In recent years,to elucidate the pathogenesis of chronic migraine, more and more studies have been conducted on the pathogenesis. Structural magnetic resonance imaging and functional magnetic resonance imaging with its non-invasive advantages accepted by many researchers, in the disease research has made a breakthrough. Related studies found that chronic migraine patients in the brain pain-related brain abnormalities, including white matter microstructure destruction, cortical layer thickness thinning, gray matter, brain volume, and functional network changes, these may be related to the occurrence and chronicity of migraine. This paper observes the relevant studies on structural magnetic resonance imaging and functional magnetic resonance imaging of chronic migraine in recent 5 years, and summarizes the key contents to provide scientific basis for the elaboration of the mechanism, clinical diagnosis, and efficacy evaluation of the disease.
