Abstract  Patients with radiotherapy for malignant tumors have metabolic disorders of organism, radiation side effects, and psychological conditions due to their own diseases, vulnerable to malnutrition, which affect the therapeutic effect, quality of life, and overall survival situation. Compliant and reasonable tumor nutritional treatment can greatly improve the survival treatment and treatment sensitivity of cancer patients. The nutritional risk screening scale 2002 should be routinely used for patients with tumor radiotherapy to conduct nutritional risk screening, evaluating and monitoring nutritional status before, during, and after radiotherapy. This paper further used the patient-generated subjective global assessment scale for patients at nutritional risk, and classification criteria for acute radiation injury in the radiation therapy oncology group during radiotherapy to determine the next intervention strategy. Tumor patients should adopt the principle of five-step treatment according to the degree of malnutrition. The strengthening of clinical nursing work also has great significance and influence on improving patients’ satisfaction with treatment outcome and quality of life, satisfaction, and so on. This article reviews the application progress in the application of nutritional support therapy in patients with malignant tumors undergoing radiotherapy, in order to promote the more standardized implementation of nutritional support in patients with tumor radiotherapy.
