Abstract  Objective To investigate the status quo of nurses’ self-efficacy in nursing research in district-level hospitals and to analyze influencing factors. Methods Cluster sampling was used to select 1075 nurses from eight district-level general hospitals in the three districts of Zhenhai, Beilun, and Yinzhou in six districts of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province from June to December 2020. The general information questionnaire and nursing research self-efficacy scale for investigation were used to survey. Results A total of 1075 questionnaires were distributed, and 1049 valid questionnaires were returned. The effective response rate was 97.58%. The total score of nursing research self-efficacy of survey subjects was 113.00 (56.50) points, and the score rate was 59.47%. The main ways most nurses choose to consult literature were Wanfang and the CNKI, which accounted for 30.03% and 26.11%, respectively. Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that educational background, professional title, receive scientific research course training, frequency of participating in scientific research lectures, literature reading time, publication of papers, and the entry of the subject into the regression equation were related factors that affected nurses’ research self-efficacy (P < 0.05), it could explain 32.8% of the total variation. Conclusion The self-efficacy of nurse nursing research in district level hospitals needs to be improved. Nursing managers should strengthen nursing research training, formulate personalized and advanced research training programs that encourage nurses to participate in research activities, and enhance nurses’ research self-efficacy.
