Abstract Objective To investigate the current status and influencing factors of medical nurses’ knowledge, belief and practice (KBP) in medical device related pressure injury (MDRPI) prevention. Methods From April to August 2020, a total of 263 internal medicine nurses in two tertiary hospitals were selected as the research subjects, and the MDRPI prevention KBP questionnaire for internal medicine nurses was used for investigation. Results Among the 263 nurses, the average scores of MDRPI prevention knowledge, prevention belief, prevention practice, and total score of KBP prevention were accounted for 67.56%, 82.76%, 73.37%, and 73.30%. There was a statistically significant difference in the scores of prevention knowledge, belief practice, KBP total score among nurses with different working years, education backgrounds, professional titles, whether to participated in MDRPI knowledge training, whether they had nurse MDRPI patients (P ＜ 0.05). Working years, professional title, whether to participate in MDRPI knowledge training, whether to nurse MDRPI patients were the factors that affected the level of nurses’ MDRPI prevention knowledge, beliefs, and practice (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion Internal medicine nurses lack knowledge of MDRPI prevention, and prevention behaviors need to be improved. The standardized education and training of MDRPI prevention knowledge should be strengthened to promote the development of the level of MDRPI KBP, so as to reduce the risk of patients with MDRPI.
