| Clinical effect of Bushen Tongbi Decoction in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with liver and kidney deficiency |

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical effect of Bushen Tongbi Decoction in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with liver and kidney deficiency. Methods A total of 90 knee osteoarthritis patients with liver and kidney deficiency treated in Shijiazhuang People’s Hospital from March 2019 to April 2020 were selected, and they were divided into control group and experimental group by random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated by Diclofenac Sodium, and the experimental group was treated by Bushen Tongbi Decoction on the basis of control group, for 30 days. The visual analogue scale(VAS) scores for knee pain,Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) scores, clinical effect and levels of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment,VAS and WOMAC scores in the two groups were lower than before treatment, and those in the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). The clinical effect of the experimental group was better than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum IL-6 and TNF-α in two groups were lower than before treatment, and those of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion Bushen Tongbi Decoction can effectively relieve knee pain, improve dysfunction, and reduce the inflammation levels of knee osteoarthritis with liver and kidney deficiency, the effect is remarkable.
