Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of E-cadherin and Claudin-7 in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and its relationship with clinicopathological features. Methods The normal cervical epithelial tissues (control group, n=30), high squamous intraepithelial neoplasias (HSIL group, n=28) and cervical squamous cell carcinomas (CA group, n=80) in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from August 2016 to August 2017 were selected as the research samples. The expression of E-cadherin and Claudin-7 protein in the three groups was detected by the immunohistochemical method. The relationship between them and pathological characteristics of cervical squamous cell carcinoma was analyzed, and the correlation between the expression levels of the two was also analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of E-cadherin protein was significantly higher in the control group than in HSIL group and CA group, and significantly higher in HSIL group than in CA group (P < 0.05). The positive rate of Claudin-7 protein was significantly lower in the control group than in HSIL group and CA group, and significantly lower in HSIL group than in CA group (P < 0.05). The positive expression rate of E-cadherin protein was negatively correlated with the size and lymph node metastasis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (P < 0.05), and positively correlated with the differentiation degree (P < 0.05). The positive expression rate of Claudin-7 protein was significantly positively correlated with lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05), and negatively correlated with the differentiation degree and clinical stage (P < 0.05). The expression of Claudin-7 protein was negatively correlated with the expression of E-cadherin protein (P < 0.05). Conclusion The positive expression rates of E-cadherin and Claudin-7 protein in cervical squamous cell carcinoma are significantly decreased and increased, respectively. The positive expression rate of them is closely related to the clinicopathological features of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
