Abstract:Objective To analyze the application effect of abdominal breathing training in rehabilitation of patients with stroke during recovery period. Methods A total of 50 patients with stroke during recovery period who received routine rehabilitation training combined with abdominal breathing training in Baoding Second Hospital, Hebei Province (hereinafter referred to as “our Hospital”) from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected as observation. A total of 50 patients with stroke during recovery period who received routine rehabilitation training in our hospital during the same period were collected as the control group. After three months of continuous intervention, lung function indexes (forced vital capacity [FVC], forced expiratory volume in one second [FEV1], FEV1/FVC), respiratory function indexes (respiratory pressure, airway resistance, airway peak pressure), modified Barthel index (MBI), and fatigue severity scale (FSS) score were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results After intervention, the FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and MBI in both groups were higher than before intervention, and the respiratory pressure, airway resistance, airway peak pressure, and the score of FSS were lower than before intervention, while the FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and MBI in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the respiratory pressure, airway resistance, airway peak pressure, and the score of FSS were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Abdominal breathing training can reduce the fatigue degree of patients in the convalescent stage of stroke, promote the recovery of respiratory and lung functions, and improve the ability of daily living activities.
