Abstract:Objective To observe clinical effect of small akupotomye in treatment of patients with Ⅱ or Ⅲ tenosynovitis stenosans of thumb. Methods A total of 60 patients who met the diagnostic criteria of Ⅱ and Ⅲ tenosynovitis stenosans of thumb were enrolled in the First Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine from November 2019 to November 2020. The patients were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with local occlusion, and the observation group was treated with small akupotomye, once a week, for one week. Visual analogue scale (VAS), Quinnell scale scores, and thumb range of motion were compared between the two groups before treatment, one day after treatment and three months after treatment. The clinical efficacy of the two groups after three months was compared. Results There were statistically significant differences in VAS, Quinnell scale scores, and thumb range of motion before, one day and three month after treatment, time point comparison and interaction between the two groups (P < 0.05). Further pairwise comparison and intra-group comparison: one day and three month after treatment, the VAS and Quinnell scale scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the thumb range of motion was higher than that before treatment, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Comparison between groups: Three month after treatment, the VAS and Quinnell scale scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group in the same period, and the thumb range of motion was higher than that of the control group in the same period, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). The clinical effect of observation group was better than control group three months after treatment, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The clinical effect of small needle knife for relieving stenosing tenosynovitis of thumb is remarkable, especially for stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ stenosing tenosynovitis.
