Abstract:Objective To investigate the status and influencing factors of self-transcendence in patients with peritoneal dialysis (PD). Methods Using convenience sampling method, a total of 162 PD patients who visited the peritoneal dialysis clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from June to October 2020 were selected as the survey subjects. General information questionnaire, self-transcendence scale, self-esteem scale, social support rating scale were used to conduct questionnaire surveys. Results The self-transcendence score of peritoneal dialysis patients was (38.49±7.56) points, which was at a low level. Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the self-transcendence scores of peritoneal dialysis patients with different education levels, work status, and comorbidities (P < 0.01). The self-transcendence score was positively correlated with the self-esteem score (r = 0.470, P < 0.001), and the self-transcendence score was positively correlated with the total score of social support and the scores of all dimensions (r = 0.480, 0.482, 0.353, 0.409, P < 0.001). Five variables including education level, work status, comorbidities, self-esteem, and social support entered the regression model (F = 24.26, P < 0.001), which could explain 43.2% of the total variation of PD patients’ self-transcendence score. Conclusion Patients with peritoneal dialysis have low self-transcendence scores and should be given personalized care to improve their self-transcendence level.
